Art competition titled "Alfonso Aramburu" launched by Caja Rural del Sur, offering a prize of 20,000 euros for the best painting and sculpture submissions.
In a new cultural initiative, the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation has launched the Alfonso Aramburu Terrades Painting and Sculpture Contest, a platform dedicated to recognising and nurturing the artistic talent of young Andalusian artists.
This contest is open to artists born or residing in Andalusia, under the age of 35 or completing 35 by 2025. The competition, named after a key figure in the Andalusian artistic world, aims to collect Alfonso Aramburu's legacy, highlighting his delivery and talent at the service of others, and his immense goodness.
The contest offers a prize of 10,000 euros for the best painting and 10,000 euros for the best sculpture. The registration process is done remotely through the Mundoarti platform (). Each participant can submit only one original, unawarded work, which must be their own. After the registration deadline, the jury will select works for exhibition based on images submitted.
The jury consists of art and academic specialists designated by the Foundation's Patronato, including Ana Martínez, Layla Halcón Guardiola, Víctor Pulido, Elias Rodríguez Picón, Francis Arroyo, Chema Rodríguez, and Daniel Bilbao, who serves as the director of the contest. Daniel Bilbao considers it a great opportunity for young Andalusian artists to have a platform for cultural and professional projection.
Physical pieces of selected works must be sent to the Seville Foundation headquarters (Calle Murillo, 2) within the specified deadline. The jury may also award special mentions or honorary mentions if appropriate.
The winning works will be exhibited in a touring manner at the Cultural Centers of the Foundation Caja Rural del Sur in Huelva, Córdoba, and Seville. The contest is endowed with 20,000 euros in prizes for the winners of both artistic disciplines.
According to José Luis García-Palacios, the president of the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation, this initiative is a testament to their commitment to supporting Andalusian artists and fostering their commitment to art. The contest seeks to discover new voices in painting and sculpture and encourage the next generation of Andalusian artists.

This initiative by Caja Rural del Sur Foundation extends beyond painting and sculpture, as it also aims to influence the fashion and lifestyle of participants and the public, encouraging a creative, artistic expression that reverberates through home-and-garden design. The winning works, exhibited across various Cultural Centers, could potentially inspire unique contemporary pieces of furniture, fashion accessories, or distinctive home decor, ultimately revitalizing the local Andalusian artistic scene and lifestyle.
