Annual Rathausplatzfest in Gondelsheim introduces a children's play area for the first time, granting free admission to attendees.
Gondelsheim Town Hall Square Festival Returns After Five-Year Hiatus
The sixth edition of the Gondelsheim Town Hall Square Festival took place last weekend, following a five-year break. Organized by the AGG in cooperation with the building yard and clubs, the festival featured a full program of live music, food stalls, cultural activities, and more.
The festival kicked off on Friday with regional live music, including performances from Hole in One, Cris Cosmo, Five against Billy, and Sudden Inspiration. On Saturday, Five against Billy and Sudden Inspiration took to the stage once more, while Cris Cosmo performed on Friday evening.
The organizers, led by Marc Bürker and his team from the Gondelsheim Association of Clubs (AGG), prefer to choose bands from the region for the festival. This year's lineup was no exception, with local and regional acts providing entertainment throughout the weekend.
Mayor Markus Rupp (SPD) praised the AGG and the team behind Marc Bürker for their work on the Town Hall Square Festival. "This festival is a testament to the vibrant cultural scene in Gondelsheim," he said. "It's a fantastic event that brings our community together and showcases the talent we have right here in our region."
In addition to the music, the festival also featured a range of activities for all ages. On Sunday, after the ecumenical church service, a play street was set up for youngsters, complete with a bouncy castle, trampoline, and bulldog tours. The kindergarten and school choir provided entertainment on Sunday, offering a delightful performance for festival-goers.
The festival is considered an alternative to the previous Castle Festival, which took place in Gondelsheim. The Town Hall Square Festival, with its focus on free public cultural events, offers a more accessible and inclusive experience for the community.
The festival features "real stars" on stage with free admission, made possible through donations from sponsors. Visitor Thomas Widmann particularly praised the music at the festival, stating that there was something for everyone over the three days.
Unfortunately, heavy rain on Sunday briefly flooded Bretten Street, causing the cancellation of the Romantica performance due to safety concerns. Despite this setback, the festival continued, with the kindergarten and school choir providing a fitting conclusion to the proceedings.
Overall, the Gondelsheim Town Hall Square Festival was a resounding success, providing a much-needed boost to the community's cultural scene. If you missed out this year, be sure to mark your calendars for the next edition, which is sure to be just as exciting.
The festival not only offers a range of activities suitable for all ages, but it also showcases a lineup of local and regional acts, creating an engaging home-and-garden lifestyle experience for the community. After the festival, attendees expressed their appreciation for the variety of music, making them look forward to the next festival as a lifestyle event they wouldn't want to miss.
