Alte Ziegelei's 'Green Classroom' Opens for IGA 2027, Boosting Biodiversity

A section of 'Alte Ziegelei' park has been transformed for the upcoming IGA 2027. The Department of Urban Greenery and the Westphalia and Lippe State Association of Small Gardeners e.V. have created a 'Green Classroom' featuring a semicircular stone wall. This wall, made of Ruhr sandstone, encourages biodiversity and provides seating for visitors.

The 'Green Classroom' is designed for environmental education and events. Its core is a dry stone wall that promotes biodiversity by providing habitats for various species. The redesign also includes new paths for visitors to explore the area.

Two ecologically valuable habitats have been created: a dry grassland area and a wet meadow. These additions will support local wildlife and enhance the park's ecosystem. The project leader's name for this section of the IGA 2027 renovation work is not publicly specified.
