Almaty's evolving lake, as captured in photos.
In Almaty, Mayor Erbolat Dosaev shared an outline of the city's progress from April 1 to 30. In this report, he highlighted various facets of the city's revitalization, focusing on the restoration of Lake Sayran.
Four fountain complexes, including those at the akimat building's Eastern and Western spots, Republic Square, and the G. Musrepov Theater, are slated for repair this year. The city has already secured a contract worth 5.6 billion tenge for the comprehensive modernization of these fountain complexes.
The report also covered the improvements underway at Lake Sayran and developing public spaces. As stated in the report, 90% of Lake Sayran's territory beautification work has been accomplished so far. This transformation has included the planting of 200 mature trees (imported from Germany's Lorberg nursery) and 3,300 shrubs around the lake.
In alignment with Almaty's commitment to enhancing public spaces, a park will soon grace the intersection of Prospekt Nazarbayev and Gandhi Street. This greenspace will feature 50 tall trees, and construction is underway for a reservoir and engineering networks. Last fall, the city unveiled a vision for Lake Sayran's embankment after reconstruction, and in April, Mayor Dosaev led a tour of the lake's territory, confirming that 80% of the main construction work, including shoreline reinforcement, engineering network installation, and dam construction, had been completed.
In December, Mayor Dosaev spoke about plans for a "Sayran" bus station near the lake.
